Zechariah Lloyd was raised on cornbread and Jesus in the southern Mississippi delta by a church pianist and a rock n’ roll drummer.

Zechariah began playing drums at a young age on his father’s drumset – cutting his teeth on his Uncle’s Zeppelin and Skynyrd records. He started making headway as an artist in 2015 when he won the Vicksburg Blues Society’s Blues Challenge, and went on to represent Vicksburg in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN where he placed in the top 5 finalists for the solo/duo division.

Zechariah Lloyd’s songs have deep roots in the Blues, Country, and Soul music he was brought up listening to, as is evident in songs like, Down to the River – his 2020 single that won 1st place in Blues for both the Unsigned Only Competition and the International Songwriting Competition, beating out over 27,000 other contestants. An origin song for Lloyd, `Down to the River emanates a swampy, “Mississippi” sound and ties traditional Blues legends to his own upbringing and personal trials and is one of the tracks on his upcoming solo EP, Heart In a Notebook

The EP’s title track and single, Heart In a Notebook is a window into Lloyd’s first-person perspective and movement through heartbreak and the struggle to move on. It’s a bittersweet, beautifully composed song that pulls the listener in on the first line. Tonally reminiscent of sounds from artists like John Mayer and Rag n’ Bone.

The second track on the EP, Waste These Days is an introspective tune that explores Zechariah’s personal conflict with societal norms and captures listeners with his groovy, percussive playing style on the acoustic guitar.

The single Heart In a Notebook drops July 1, 2022 and the full Heart In a Notebook EP releases worldwide on all DSPs on July 14, 2022 at 12am.
